Reducing Waste


Recommended waste management measures, in order of preference:

  • Recycling or re-use of hog waste,
  • Reduce / minimize, and
  • Waste treatment.

  • Use of drums or storage water tanks during cleaning operation;
  • Installation of mechanical drinkers to minimize consumption and wastage of water;
  • Feed and water trough modification
  • Use of mechanical/automatic feeder to reduce food wastage.

  • Manure drying
  • Pelleting plant and / or common treatment facilities (via cooperative)
